Park Canalejas. Park Canalejas is below the Esplanade of Spain.
It is characterized by having a number of large trees (Ficus) that provide
shade throughout most of its route.
Its proximity to the sea makes this park an ideal place for relaxing and
reading. At both ends you can find two decorative pieces of art—stone
sculptures representing lions and dogs—at the entrance to the park. Another
element of interest is a large map of Spain large and a monument to the
writer Carlos Arniches.
The Palm
Grove Park.
This park is located on the
south side of Alicante.
It has hundreds of palm trees and abundant vegetation, plus a lake and
waterfalls that can be visited with small boats that are available for rent.
The Park Morant. It is the largest park in town and located on
the north of the capital city of Alicante,
serving the neighborhoods of Virgen del Remedio, the Virgen del Carmen area,
and the General Hospital. In it you can find pine
forests, recreation areas, picnic, a small lake, and sports.
Park the Ereta. Located at the foot of Mount Benacantil,
it offers one of the most spectacular views of the city. From this park you can
see the Santa Cruz Quarter, the Cathedral of St. Nicholas, the Port, and the Mediterranean Sea. Another attraction of this area is
that it allows travel to the renewed access to the castle wall.
Parque Juan Pablo II. It is the second largest park in Alicante. It is in an area
known as expansion or new PAU-1 San Blas and is oval in shape. There are a children’s
area, a lawn, and a good number of palm trees. Currently, it does not have many
services, just a pharmacy and a branch of Bancaja.
Plaza de los Luceros
Luceros Square (in Valencian: Placa dels Estells) is the most
emblematic of the city of Alicante.
In the center there is a monumental fountain that was built in 1930 by sculptor
Daniel Alicante Banuls Martinez.
Before the Spanish
Civil War, it was called Independence
Square. In the early 1950s this square was a busy part
of the city, especially on summer nights, when the source of free entertainment
is offered with light water games. It is a place of celebration of amateur Hercules
Club de Futbol, where they enjoy team victories.
Esplanade of Spain. It was built on the old pier during the first
half of the 20th century. It consists of six million tiles that depict a mosaic
of undulating red, black, and white.
In addition, there are four rows of palm trees that cover more than 500m. It is a symbol of identity for the people of Alicante and a symbol of tourism in the city.
It was renovated and restored in the ’90s and is still considered one of the
great landmarks of the city. Before the Spanish Civil War, this play area was
called the Paseo de Martyrs.
