Costa Blanca Details

The city is located on the shores of the Mediterranean on a plain sorted by a series of hills and elevations.Mount Benacantil, 169 m, on which sits the Castillo deSanta Barbara, dominates the urban facade and is the most characteristic of the city.

In this we also find the Tossal, where theCastle ofSan Fernando, Sierra de San Julian, Serra Grossa, and Garbinet Tossal Manises sit. Troughs and gorges run among these, some completely hidden by urban growth and the graying of esplanades. Bon Hivern, San Blas-Benalua, and other larger ones are targeted as the Rambla of the Sheep or the Juncaret. South of the city there is a wetland area, the salt of Agua Amarga.

In the coastline beaches are, from north to south:San Juan, La Almadraba, La Albufereta, El Postiguet, Agua Amarga, El Saladar, and theisland ofTabarca. Between the beaches of La Albufereta andSan Juan is Cabo de las Huertas, with numerous coves: Calabarda, Cantalares, Los Judios, and La Palmera.

There is a large gap within the city. Because the city is at 0 m, it is used as reference to measure height anywhere inSpain. There are the neighborhoods on the same level as the Playa deSan Juan; other than height, Pla Bon Repos of San Blas is 30 m,Los Angeles is 75 m, and the Garden City's General Virgen del Remedio Marva is more than 80 meters.

The township is just over 200 kmē and stands out at the maximum elevation, 1208 m, of Cabezon de Oro. There are also mountains of lesser height, such as the mountain ranges of the Eagles, Alcoraya, Medium, Fontcalent (426 m), and Sancho Tajos, separating the regions ofAlicante and Vinalopo.

These elevations are materials composed of limestone, sandstone, and marl formations. They include the drainage basins of theMonnegre River and Rambla de Sheep. It also stresses theTabarca Island, opposite the place of Santa Pola, and is part of the municipality.

Alicante (in Valencian, Alacant) is the second largest city ofValencia, with a population of 331,750 inhabitants (INE 2008). Located on the Mediterranean coast,Alicante is the capital of theprovince ofAlicante and the region of Alacante.
