Benidorm has
experienced since the mid twentieth century an extraordinary urban
transformation, which has caused its population from 5,000 inhabitants at the
end of the 50s to the present figure.
On the other hand, Benidorm is the place
with more skyscrapers per capita in the world and second in the number of them
per square meter, only after Manhattan.
Which was the tallest building in Spain,
the Hotel Bali III, is located in Benidorm, is the highest hotel in Europe. It has also started construction of the tallest
residential building in Europe to be called
Intempo (200 m.).

inhabitants (2007), but because a vast majority of foreigners are not
registered are estimated to be around 100,000 for most of the year. Even so,
29.3% of the population census in 2007 is of foreign nationality, highlighting
the people of British origin and other countries of the European Union.
Benidorm is a tourist city thanks largely to its climate and average
temperatures, which fluctuate throughout the year between the 12 º in winter
and 28 º are reached in summer.
