The Montgo (753 m, Natural Park since 1987), with its majesty dominating 66.2 km˛ of the municipality, has a variety of native plants, animals, caves, and trails. The other attraction is the scenic Marine Reserve of Cabo de San Antonio. This place has a height of 160 m.

Denia is part of the Costa Blanca, which runs to Pilar de la Horadada and has 20 km of coastline in the outstanding beaches of Les Marines and Las Rotas.

Bordering Towns

Denia is confined to the north coast of Oliva (in the province of Valencia) and Javea to the south (in Alicante). To the east it borders the Mediterranean Sea and west with several areas, such as Els Poblets, Vergel, Ondara, Benimeli, Pego, Rafol of Almunia, Pedreguer, Gata de Gorgos, and Teulada.

Access

Denia is communicated by road, with Valencia and Alicante via the N-332 and AP-7 E-15 (Autopista del Mediterranean, Exit 62). It connects with Gandia, Valencia, and Alicante via bus.

The railway station connects with the line Alicante-Denia FGV (Trenet de la Marina). Denia is not too far from Ibiza (two hours away), Palma de Mallorca, and Formentera (with the company Balearia).

Denia is a city of Valencia, situated on the north coast of the province of Alicante. It is the capital of the region of Marina Alta, also known as part of “Marchioness” of Denia. It has 43,704 inhabitants (2007).

Besides the town of Denia, there are several districts.

La Jara: located north of the town, between Denia and Ondara.

Jesus Pobre: Located west of Denia, after Montgo.

La Pedrera: Located at the foot of Montgo.

Denia is located in the middle of Alicante and Valencia but belongs to the province of Alicante.

Denia Beaches

Denia has a coastline of 20 km, and the northern beaches are wide and sandy. In the south there are rocky coves. They have implemented a system of quality environmental management. These beaches are recognized by the ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 9001-2000 (quality management). It has two areas of beaches—Las Marinas and Las Rotas.

The area of the Las Marinas has sandy beaches: Cagarritar (closest to the people), Les Deveses La Almadraba, Els Molins, Les Bovet, Les Marines, Albaranas, and Punta Raset.

The area of Las Rotas is characterized by its numerous coves and the promenade (Marineta Casiana, El Trampoli, La Punta Negra, Les Arenetes, La Cala).
