The Montgo is the most notable visual summit of the region, with more than 750 m in height, and is often the parapet of storms coming from the North to work largely on the maintenance of the local microclimate. They areCape San Antonio (north) and theCape Prim, which forms thebay ofJavea.

The Cape is geographically the largest Cabo de la Nao, which represents the part that goes over the sea in this part ofSpain. The other strands are under the “Black Cape” and “San Martin.”

The proof is that it is a place for foreign retirees to spend the rest of their winter time. The green color is dominant in the landscape, but it does not rain very often. Javea has a lot of underground water, which is one of the possible origins of its name, from of Arabic Xabiga.

Javea (in Valencian, Xabia) is amunicipality ofValencia, situated on the north coast of theprovince ofAlicante, in the region of La Marina Alta. It has a population of over 34,000 inhabitants ( 2008), of whom 53.1% are of foreign nationality.

The official languages are Spanish and Valencian, which are widespread among the population. English is the most widely spoken foreign language, as Javea has a population of about 6000 British residents annually, the highest inValencia.

German ranks as the second most popular foreign language (about 2000 residents), well ahead of Dutch, French, Italian, and Russian. Some 85 nationalities are reside in Javea each year.

There is an underground river, called “Moraig” that comes from the internalPedreguer Mountains, where you can see its birth in the cave of the skull in Benidoleig. The rains are presented with a Mediterranean rainfall regime; i.e., very intense rainfall in a very short time, being the months of September, October, and November. These rainfalls typical of the Mediterranean are called “cold drops” in this part ofSpain.

There are two small islands—the Portichol opposite the beach of “Barraca” and the “Descubridor,” opposite the clothing optional beachAmbolo Island. There is a river that crosses from west to east in the district called “Gorgos Jalon,” which is a river of drainage water when it rains, because most of the year it is dry.

Unlike nearby towns like Denia and Oliva, Javea has a varied topography, from a valley between the foothills of Montgo and the end of Nao and Pico de Benitachell to the low plains of the Saladar Pla’s and the high plateau of les plans (Cape San Antonio ), beaches, creeks, mountains, and so on.
