Costa Blanca Details

For the sighting of the Corsair ships, there are several points along the coast of Javea with towers that serve as lookouts. When watching a vigilant enemy ship, people used to light torches, and this is replicated in some towers, with bells used as alarms. There are currently two watchtowers in perfect condition. One is situated beside the road downhill to the beach, and the other is in the Ambolo and is closed to the public.

There is a second church in the port, the Virgin of Loreto, which is a more modern building but comes from an old church in the port area in the same century as the people. This modern church has the particularity of a roof that is like a keel boat (you can see where the road ascends the hill of San Antonio) and some external columns, which makes it look like the tentacles of an octopus.

In the plane going to the Cape San Antonio can be found the monastery of the Virgin of the Angels, a monastery of the order of Jeronimos, managed by a single monk who performs the job of giving mass weddings and attends to the sick and dying. In summer students receive colony outsiders. In July there are several days of celebration, with the festival of the Virgen de los Angeles.

Los Molinos: The town has a number of mills that are located in the flat, except for the mill known as the Safranera. These mills are genuine towers dating from the 14th century.

The most significant monument is St. Bartholomew’s Church in the village center. This church dates from the 16th century and combines the strength (for its square shape and its internal buttresses) and the sobriety of a church. Its bell tower stands out on the town and can be viewed from anywhere in the county.
