Cinemas

In 2008 Murcia had over 40 cinemas. The city has seen the decline of movie theaters, having disappeared from neighborhoods and downtown, to the point that, in 2006, the only theaters remaining open to the public in this zone were the Rex cinema and movie theaters and film Centrofama Murcia Regional Francisco Rabal (old films).

Years earlier multiplexes called Atalayas and Zig Zag had opened (both are now closed) on the outskirts of the city. In 2006 a few cinemas opened in the latest generation of commercial complexes and New Condomina Thader. The latter opened the room Xpander 6D, the first in Spain combined with the projection of 3D mobile armchairs and SFX effects of rain, wind, light, fog, and smell.
