Popular Festivals
Holy Week processions are known for their Salzillo and The Coloraos. The Nazarenes carry an outfit and give candy, monkeys (with or without eggs), and beans to people who come to the processions.
The spring festival is held the week following Easter Sunday. Throughout the week there are parades and concerts and clubs in the gardens of the city known as “barracks,” where you can sample the local cuisine. Among the many acts out on Tuesday, there is the Bando de la Huerta and the Burial of the Sardine on Saturday, the latter being declared a Fiesta of International Tourist Interest.
The Fair in September develops during the first half of September. It includes numerous events and culminates in the pilgrimage of the Virgen de la Fuensanta.
